A Dressed Chicken In A Monkey Suit

Ok... ok... so, I've been remissed in blogging these past few months. Well, I did need the break to refocus on life and stuff... but anyway, to start off... I've had this totally weird and hilarious chat session with a Singaporean galpal on yahoo messenger late very early this morning...

    Here's the edited excerpt:

kayenne: i like the former tenant on the 9th... they supply me with cheap, organic herbs like basil and tarragon
kayenne: and i've not been able to try their "french hens"

    Siti: what's a french hen?

kayenne: i forgot what it's called... but it's french something chicken
kayenne: large free-range chicken that's supposed to be tasty
kayenne: and larger than the normal chickens we get... about 2 kilos each, i think
kayenne: although they deliver live... i would prefer them dead... lol

Siti: live? and you have to slaughter them yourself???

kayenne: i think that is one of the reasons why i didn't order before... they intend to deliver the chicken still squawking
kayenne: yeah... i inquired whether they can dress it for me...
kayenne: but they left not long before i could get an answer
kayenne: see... they get them fresh from a farm in a nearby province
    kayenne: fresh, as in alive

Siti:  my mind is putting funny pics in my head when I put these together--> live chickens... ask them to dress it for me.

kayenne: i know how to slaughter a chicken... theoretically... i've seen it done in the wet market where we get our supply... and also one of the cooks when i was little... but i don't think i can manage to kill a chicken and eat it too.
    kayenne: hahaha funny siti
kayenne: would you like a monkey suit to go?

    Siti: hahahahah!!!!!!!!!!

kayenne: dress a chicken in a monkey suit!!!

    Siti:

    kayenne:

    Siti:  omG!!!
Siti:  this is the result of late night convo. Oxygen deprived brains!

    kayenne: hahahah

Siti: I think I'm going to use this in Halle's story.

kayenne: hey! i had a pet chicken once...
kayenne: i bought it for a few pesos when it was still a chick at a school fair
    kayenne: then...
    kayenne: then...
    kayenne: then........
kayenne: one day... it was just gone!

    Siti: it died?

kayenne: at lunch, i saw a local braised chicken dish... adobo!
kayenne: you'd bet i lost my appetite!

    Siti: hahahaha!!!!

    kayenne: I'M SERIOUS!!!
    kayenne: i was soooooooooooooooooo pissed!
kayenne: my aunt said she had it slaughtered coz it kept waking them up at 3 or 4am
    kayenne: LOL

Siti: that really was YOUR chicken???

kayenne: but i was so despondent then... i was maybe arpound 8 years old
    kayenne: it was MY chicken!
kayenne: a white-legged horn, they say.

    Siti: OMG.

kayenne: i fed it since it was only a chick

    Siti: oh wow.
    Siti: that is so sad.

kayenne: now THAT is a true-to-life Halle story
    kayenne:  lol
kayenne:  maybe Halle doesn't eat chicken

Siti: hahaha....I 'll think of how to use that somehow,

kayenne:  or she cries everytime she sees a live chicken being dressed

    Siti: that's an idea.yeah
    Siti: in a monkey suit.

kayenne:  and being in asia... it's common enough to see a chicken beng dressed in the market
    kayenne:
    kayenne:  hahahah

    Siti:
Siti: This is the funniest convo I've ever had.

kayenne:  see! we are much more sophisticated than the elite... we don't dress dogs... we dress chickens!

    Siti: HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

kayenne:  you remember i was talking about a soy and vinegar braised dish - adobo?

    Siti: yep.

    kayenne:  they COOKED my chicken!

    Siti:  OMG.

kayenne: i often hear others say someone cooked their goose... but only i can say that they cooked my chicken!
    kayenne:  lol

    Siti: HAHAHAHA!!!
Siti: I think there's something wrong with you today.

kayenne:  must be the tail of the cold front we got today...

That it, folks! The rest gets too embarassing...

    38 days before Christmas!

    So, what's your chicken story?

post script: after that particular conversation last night, i couldn't rest until i remember which breed it was that was available before... the magic of internet... SASSO chickens!

    from mixph.com:
"Sasso chickens are native chickens of France and now becoming popular among big and small raisers. Resembling our own native chickens, the Sasso chicken grow faster, with delicious and tender meat and strong disease resistance. Sasso chickens are free-range, affordable, easy to raise which proves to be a profitable livelihood venture. They graze around the field, or backyard running around, and eating grass, corn, leaves and other natural ingredients.

Because they are being naturally grown free-range style, you are assured of a clean chicken meat with less cholesterol and fat. Sasso chickens can be raised as broiler and are good layers too when they reach six months of age. Sasso hens lay naturally brown, tasty, nutritious and with less cholesterol eggs."
